Colorado Legal Services statement on Mercy Housing v. Bermudez

Oct. 22, 2024 — Matt Baca, Executive Director of Colorado Legal Services, release the following statement on this week's Colorado Supreme Court decision in Mercy Housing v. Bermudez:

“Colorado Legal Services applauds the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision holding that tenants are entitled to trials by jury in eviction cases. As an organization that serves thousands of Coloradans who are facing eviction each year, we know that today’s decision will go a long way towards preventing homelessness, fighting the eviction crisis, and allowing tenants to fully assert their rights in court.”
